A Beauty Review Moment – YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil

It’s still only one week until Christmas (YAY! By the way, this is one of my favorite holiday traditions. Silly, I know, but fun), but Spring 2015 makeup collections are already making their way onto the scene.

I received my Sephora $20 reward card in the mail and decided to order some things last week, because I can’t just let it go to waste, now can I? I was also only $5 away from becoming VIB Rouge, which basically just means you spend waaay to much money at Sephora (although I don’t feel that bad because I do share my Beauty Insider account with my sister and my mom, so it’s a joint effort of being bad and buying things :)).

Anyways, I saw that Sephora had released some products that were VIB and VIB Rouge exclusive. I decided to take a peek and behold – I discovered the YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oil.

A combination of Cara Delevigne’s promo picture, the gorgeous yet traditional spring-y colors that remind me of warmer weather and skies that aren’t gray 24/7, and my overall love for YSL lip products are why this product was immediately added to my cart.

It’s also very unique. I’ve never seen anything like it really on the market, and I don’t own anything like it in my collection already. I’m not even sure what to call it – lip gloss? lip oil? lip stain? It’s pretty much a combo of all three.

The YSL Volupte Tint-In-Oils are $32 each and I chose #5 Cherry My Cherie.

The packaging is beautiful and elegant, just as you would expect with YSL. However, they did spice it up a bit because the entire tube is silver rather than gold. Also, I like the fact that they put the band around the tube that shows you the color on the outside. This product is also watermelon scented, like the majority of YSL’s lippies. I happen to love it, but it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. You can’t smell it once it is on the lips.

The product itself is nothing short of amazing if you are looking for a sheer wash of color and an insanely hydrating/nourishing lip gloss/oil/stain. Cherry My Cherie is a pretty pinky red. It’s very natural and not bold at all. It’s a great option if you are looking for something to wear to work or school when you want that “no makeup, makeup look.”

When you apply it, the oil is very smooth, gives a beautiful glossy look, and isn’t sticky at all. I HATE sticky lip glosses, so this was a major plus. Nothing worse than having your hair stick to your mouth every five seconds. This product is kind of magical because it provided instant relief to my lips, which were chapped from the cold weather.

As you wear it throughout the day, the oil starts to disappear but the color does not. As the oil absorbs into your lips, the stain of the color is left behind. It also gets a bit brighter as the oil wear off. After the oil was all gone, the color of Cherry My Cherie reminded me of how my lips look after eating a cherry popsicle. 🙂

While YSL is rolling these products out with their spring collection, I think that these are awesome for the winter because of their hydrating and nourishing properties. The colors, which range from pinks to reds to peaches, are obviously perfect for spring so they will transition nicely in anyone’s collection.

Their $32 price tag make them kind of pricey, but I think their uniqueness justifies it more than a regular lip gloss. I definitely see myself purchasing more in the future. I’m especially eyeing up #4 I Rose You and #6 Peach Me Love.

Let me know if you’ve tried the Volupte Tint-In-Oils or if you are going to pick anything up from the other collections making their ways out (looking at you, Chanel).

Also as a little side note, if you want something more substantial than the Garfield Advent Calendar I linked above, you should check out the one going on over at She Reads Truth. My aunt sent this to me a couple of weeks ago, and I have been really enjoying reading it. It’s too easy to get lost with all of the hustle and bustle of Christmas, so it’s nice to take a step back each day and remember what the whole thing is all about. Let me know if you read it!

And, as always, thanks for reading this, too. 🙂 Have a great day you guys!
