When I was in New York City, I managed to make it up to the Madison Avenue Lilly Pulitzer store near 79th Street a whopping four times. Considering I only had a month in the city – and the fact that I lived no where near the Upper East Side – I think that shows just how addicted I am to the Palm Beach lifestyle.
The store was absolutely STUNNING. You guys, you have to check it out if you have the chance. Each one of the girls was so friendly, and the upstairs of the store was packed with sale items. I don’t have a Lilly anywhere near me in Pittsburgh, so this was a treat to find some beautiful pieces actually at a discount.
Let’s just say that despite the APS-esque prices, I still did quite a bit of damage. I keep telling myself that once the After Party Sale does roll around next month, I don’t actually need anything, but we will see how strictly I keep to that. 😉
This dress was my splurge of the trip. I snagged it for about 40 percent off, but it was still over $100. I couldn’t help myself though. Lilly Pulitzer Pearl dresses are some of their most gorgeous styles, I think. I absolutely love the white crochet/embroidering at the neckline, and the cut itself is so flattering. This is in the pattern ‘Going Stag,’ which I thought was hilarious and very fitting of my life.
Please ignore the fact that it’s a little big on me though. That’s the bad part about sale items in stores – sizes are limited. I typically take a six in Lilly dresses, and this one is an eight. It’s a bit loose near the underarms but isn’t too bad through the actual body of the dress. It was so pretty I decided to get it anyways. You can’t tell when you have your arms down, either, so no big deal in my eyes.
We have a dinner at California Grill lined up next month when we are in Disney World, and I think I will wear this dress then too! I paired it today with some sandals from Just Fab and these beautiful stone hoop earrings from Henri Bendel, another store I managed to visit a million times despite being nowhere close to it. I also got the earrings for 50 percent off because they were having their annual anniversary sale!
What is your favorite dress to wear for nicer events?
