With the holiday season rapidly approaching, I always love to spice up my makeup look to make it a little more fun and festive. Nothing is better than a beautiful, shimmery eye look and a classic red lip! Or, if you’re really into amping up the wow factor for holidays, you could even opt for a sparkly, dramatic look. Either way, today I’m going to share some of my favorite shimmery and sparkly eyeshadow formulas with you all. It can be so difficult to find products that have an excellent formula, strong pigmentation, are easily blendable, and don’t break the bank. Here are my suggestions:
Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Redemption Eyeshadow Palette // If you are looking for a wonderful Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette dupe, pick up this bad boy. It’s $7 from Ulta, and the quality and pigmentation of the shadows for the price is out of this world. Most of the shades are shimmery and sparkly, but they create the most stunning looks on the eye. They apply smoothly and don’t stick to/enhance any dry areas. They have fairly decent staying power, as well, but I always use the NARS Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base plus a MAC Paint Pot as a base.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow // There’s a good reason why Urban Decay eyeshadows have a cult following. They’re priced decently, and they’re just an incredible formula. Smooth, buttery, pigmented, long-lasting. This is really the fool-proof eyeshadow if you’re looking for something shimmery (but not super glittery) that you can honestly throw on and forget about for the rest of the evening. I’ve had my fair share of these over the years. There’s minimal (if any) fall out to deal with, and they’re my go-to when I need an eye look in a hurry that still looks as though I’ve spent a ton of effort on it.
Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow Eyeshadow // These are my vote if you want a seriously sparkly eyeshadow. Make Up For Ever does a huge array of shades in their metallic and shimmer finishes (which are more glittery than plain shimmery). They’re wonderfully pigmented, and the glitter doesn’t feel gritty or tough to work with on the eye. Check out a review I did a while ago on a couple of the shades for more of my thoughts!
NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow // NARS has long been one of my favorite beauty brands and is a definite weakness of mine. I’ve adored nearly everything I’ve tried from them, and the Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows are no different. If you want a high-impact shimmery look from a cream shadow, go for these. It’s technically a dry shadow, but it applies and feels just like a cream on the fingertips. There are some gorgeous shades in the range, including Himalia, which is this stunning champagne color that’s just perfect with a red lip. These are definitely on the pricey side at $29 a pop, but they are so, so worth it.
