Anyone who was brave enough to shop the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale this morning knows exactly how much of a hot mess that was. I ended up sitting on my computer and phone for about an hour before the website even let me in to shop. The pro of having a virtual line is that the website won’t crash, because it won’t be overloaded with such a high volume of users…except that it crashed anyways.
Once I was in the actual site, it toggled between being ready to go and not. I was able to add a few things to my cart before the site crashed again, but I did end up snagging the things in the end #FirstWorldProblems. The sale is rarely stress-free, but this was definitely worse than usual. For a company that faces these problems time and again, you’d think that they would try to come up with a different way to manage them.
When Lilly’s corporate website fails, I always recommend shopping signature stores. My favorites (with equal or even better prices) are The Pink Door Memphis and The Pink Palm out of DC. I also used SC Sugar for the first time this sale, and I’ll let you know how quickly I get my order, etc.
Here’s what I got:
Lydia Dress in Bay Blue Fine Line. This always happens to me: I track every Lilly pattern during the summer like it’s my day job. In the winter though, not so much. There’s no place for me to wear brightly-colored shorts in Pittsburgh when its 30 degrees outside, so it kind of falls off the map for me. I’ve never seen this dress before, but as soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew I had to have it. I love, love the shape to it, and the pattern is gorgeous. There’s a cute braided detail at the back too, and this will be perfect for some upcoming vacations I have. Originally $168, I got it for $59.
Amberley Dress in True Navy. There’s nothing more classic than a simple navy dress. I loved the shape and gold buttons on this one, and the best thing is that it’ll work in Pittsburgh’s winters without much hassle. Add a sweater, some tights, and some boots, and I’m good to go. This was $108 and I grabbed it for $34.
Bay Dress in Play That Trunky Music. THIS DRESS. I have a thing for Lilly’s elephant patterns, and this one is no different. I feel like some people might think this is ugly, but I don’t really care. I love it. This is going to be so great in the spring with some gold sandals, but I think I can pull it off now with riding boots and a vest. Love! Goes for $98, I got it for $59. Not the *best* deal, but I loved it too much to pass. Plus, how fun is that name?
Marigold Skort in Getting Steamy. This was the #1 piece that I wanted from this summer that I ended up not grabbing before the season ended. Super happy I got this for only $34 (originally $88), and I can’t wait to wear this to Florida this spring.
Marlowe Dress in Multi Island Time. Guys. This reminds me of a dress I had in Hot Spot a few years ago, but I never wore it and ended up selling it because the fit was off. I LOVE this pattern, and the Marlowe dress is one of my favorite fits. It’s comfortable, and again, easy to wear in the winter with layers. Got this for $39, retail $98.
How did the sale go for you? Let me know what you got!
