Today’s post is going to be more of an update/story post than anything else. I’m shooting some new photos today, so expect outfit posts in the next coming weeks now that it’s warm and sunny out finally!

Do you ever have one of those days where everything just seems to go wrong? My boyfriend was so sweet and decided to pick me up from class so that we could go to lunch nearby. He works for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and was out meeting with a source to put the finishing touches on his story that details the hip-hop scene in the city.

After lunch, we get back in his car so that he can take me back to campus and none of his gears will shift or catch properly. LOL, that photo of us at the top is before we realized the car didn’t work.¬†We kind of just looked at each other like “Welp, now what??” Neither of us ever had to call AAA or a tow truck before, and we were kind of clueless what to do, but we ended up figuring it out after some help from calling my dad (LOL, thank goodness for parents). We waited eons for a tow truck to show up, but luckily we parked in a really good spot so he was able to get in and take the car. The place we went for lunch has pretty narrow streets and tons of traffic, so at least that was lucky that the truck could get in.

The tow truck driver himself was kind of crazy and abrasive and we were just like “What is going on with today??” And then we took the most dizzying stop-and-go Uber back to class where we gave up and took my sister and a friend to get ice cream because why not.

But even though the day was extremely stressful and inopportune (I had to miss all of my classes for the day but I didn’t really have any work due so that was good), we were able to stay positive and make the most of a bad situation. I think that’s the key to when life throws something negative and unexpected at you: take it as it is and keep moving.

My boyfriend’s hip-hop story that I mentioned earlier just launched today!!! I would really appreciate it if you guys all gave it a read. He spent the past few months working so hard on it, and not many people in Pittsburgh (or outside of Pittsburgh) know about the vibrant hip-hop and trap rap scene going on here. Besides Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa, not many know about these other artists who are so good and so creative. Julian wrote an incredible narrative about them all, what hip-hop means to them, where the future of the industry is going within the city. I might be a little biased but as a journalism student, I promise you this is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever read. I’m so proud of him and how hard he worked on this. Wopo Gif.gif

I think you guys would find it pretty interesting. I’ve come to really love Jimmy Wopo, which is cool because I’ve never really listened to rap/hip-hop music before. But hearing things that my boyfriend was working with through this project opened my eyes to it, and it’s awesome. I listened to it with my sister all vacation when I was in Florida. There was a night where no one was at the hotel pool, and we were just swimming, blasting Wopo. It was amazing.

Thanks so much for reading! I hope your week is going well.

xoxo Rebekah
